How to Save Some Money on Cooling Costs

Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, but when your cooling costs are out of control, it might be tough to relax. We don’t want you to feel like you need to shut down your air conditioner just to save a few bucks. Follow our advice to save some money without giving up your comfort.

Seal leaks around the home

Small leaks around windows and doors amount to a lot of air lost. When you seal up these leaks, you can save a significant amount on your bills, just by cutting back on wasted air and unwanted heat exchange. These leaks often add up to be about the size of a soccer ball! Look into weather stripping and caulking in certain parts of the home.

Learn how the thermostat works

One easy way to cut down on costs is to get to know your thermostat a little bit better. It turns out that the majority of people who have a programmable thermostat are not using it to its full potential. Your programmable thermostat will turn on 20 minutes before you plan to arrive home from work and turn off automatically before you plan to leave—if you’re using it properly. You can also upgrade to a Wi-Fi thermostat for even better efficiency.

Sign up for a maintenance program

When you sign up for our annual maintenance program, you make an agreement with a local AC and heating company to tune-up your systems at least once a year. And this can make a major difference, helping you to learn about potentially costly AC issues early on. It also includes a tune-up that makes your system operate more efficiently.
