Does Your Commercial Property Need Dehumidification?

waterOwning and operating a commercial property is a major responsibility. It does not really matter what type of business you find yourself in. Whatever it may be, you only stand to benefit by keeping your clients, tenants, and/or employees comfortable at all times. You also want to protect the integrity of any products that you may have in your property. This is why a commercial dehumidifier may be necessary. And if one is, you can count on us to install the right one, the right way.

Now, if your commercial air conditioning system is not functioning properly, the problem is going to be fairly obvious. You’ll notice pretty quickly if your commercial property is just too hot. The same cannot really be said about air that is too dry, though. It’s just not as immediately noticeable as air that is not of a comfortable temperature. That doesn’t mean that there is no way to determine if you could use a dehumidifier in Farmington, NM, though.

What to Look for with High Humidity

You need to do more than look, of course. You also need to feel and listen if you want to be clued in about the problems facing your commercial indoor air quality. One of the best advantages that you have is the complaints of others within your property—and yes, in this case, it is an advantage.

Remember that humid air retains heat a lot better than dry air does. That means that it can feel uncomfortable in your commercial space if it is too humid, even when you have your air conditioner running. If the air is saturated with moisture, in fact, you may see your cooling costs creep upwards as the system tries to overcome that challenge.

You should also be on the lookout for signs of water damage, including stains on floors or carpeting, or even rust and corrosion on metal fixtures, pipes, and appliances. When you run a restaurant, for instance, the dishwashing and boiling of water for cooking can introduce a lot of moisture into the air. Even if the climate outside is dry, you  may notice such signs of moisture-related damage within the property.

You should also be aware of aggravated allergy and asthma symptoms, or general flareups, among people in your property. If you have a lot of moisture, you may have a breeding ground for biological pollutants like mold spores. When that happens, frequent illness is a real concern.
