Some Unique Ductless Repairs

If you are the owner of a ductless system, you know how truly great they are—they’re super efficient, highly effective, and don’t take up much space! Plus, they’re able to provide year-round comfort with just the flip of a switch!

But however great these systems are, they still come with their own set of unique repair needs, which we think you should be aware of. So below, we have listed some of the repairs unique to ductless systems. All you have to do is keep reading to find out more! And remember, it is important to contact a professional right away if you notice any of these issues.

Here’s What Could Happen

Here’s what could happen to your ductless system in Farmington, NM:

Water Leaks Behind the Air Handler

Each of the wall-mounted air handlers in your home has a series of connections routed through a hole behind them. These connections include a power line, a refrigerant line, and a condensate line. The condensate line is responsible for removing water from the cooling process so that it doesn’t enter your home. If, however, this line leaks, water will begin to collect between the back of the air handler and the wall.

If this goes on for too long, the water can weaken your wall materials, causing the air handler to tear off the wall and fall to the floor. Not only will you have to replace the broken air handler, but you will also be stuck with the cost of having to repair the damaged wall. Therefore, it is important to call for repairs right away if you notice any signs of water.

Broken Air Handlers

There are a number of reasons why one of your air handlers may stop working. It could be due to a faulty wiring connection, a damaged blower, or some other mechanical issue. In any case, a broken air handler can definitely impact your comfort—but not too much…

You see, when one of your air handlers stops working, the remaining air handlers in your home will continue to run just fine! This is perhaps one of the greatest benefits of owning a ductless system — all you have to do is move to another room to cool off!

Refrigerant Leaks

Okay sure, maybe refrigerant leaks aren’t unique to ductless systems, however, ductless systems are certainly more prone to this issue seeing that they’ve got more refrigerant lines running through them. A refrigerant leak can spell all sorts of trouble for your ductless system, including a full system breakdown if you’re not careful.

Therefore, it is important to be aware of the signs of a refrigerant leak. These include a low cooling output, strange hissing sounds, and liquid coming out of the system. If you notice any of these signs, you must call in a professional right away for repairs!
